The Owls of Sedgemount is the delightful tale of a group of owls who do everything intheir power to save their forest home with the help of one little boy. The story begins in theforest of Sedgemount with an old owl who hears the sawing of chainsaws in the distance. Oneby one, creatures of the forest stop by to tell the owl about men that havebeen spotted logging nearby, floating logs down the nearby river Beam.The old owl calls together all the owls of the forest to put together a plan to deal with the loggers. The barred owls want to fightwhile the great horned and screech owls feel that it is hopeless. Finally, they agree on a plan todistract the men and stuff debris into their logging trucks. As the screech owls begin to call outto distract the loggers, they are ignored and the men put up a large sign that says, 'SedgemountPreserve.' The old owl points out that they will be left alone for now, but that humans alwaysreturn. Then, they discover that the men cut down a huge portion of the forest west of the riverand that their forest has been reduced greatly in size from a clear-cut.So, the owls devise a new plan to take the possessions of the humans and hold themhostage until their demands are met. They swoop down and grab keys, cell phones, toys, andeven someone's wig. Robbie's father walks outside and sees the owls in the trees along with allthe confiscated possessions hanging in the branches. The people are all angry at the owls, butRobbie speaks out and tells them that they are simply trying to protect their home from beingdestroyed and not trying to steal everyone's things. Robbie's father finally listens and decidesto leave the preserve alone. The old owl thanks Robbie and tells him that they couldn't havesaved the forest without his help. Robbie comes back to visit the forest often to see his friendthe old owl.
