Description

***THE PLAN - Book 3: Problems*** THE PLAN adventure continues with problems popping up and grandiose goals at risk. Both protagonists and antagonists have high hopes that they will succeed or prevail. Each is doggedly determined to overcome the difficulties. Most of the individuals and groups are working for the common good, but some are pushing against others to protect their plans and achieve goals. There are definitely bad guys, but some of the good guys are rooting for them. Secrecy is a part of all the plans, and many of the players in this story do not know what others do. One thing they all understand: the prospector's plan is changing many lives. The Squad inserts a specialist to help constrain the Pod's actions against the prospector and his allies. The prospector is oblivious to the more advanced human generations represented by the Pod and the Squad, but he feels the peril posed by local adversaries and the elements. *** In addition to diligent work in pursuit of important goals, games abound in the Lundys Post area. Relationships deepen and new characters arrive. The Specialist starts her mission and plants a cover story. An old Indian embarks on a journey of remembrance. Sinister agents go on a crime spree, putting the prospector and the cowboy in jeopardy. The Marshal investigates, using his distinctive approach to law enforcement. A local adversary becomes Granger's mining competitor. The trapper reappears and gets "stung". An early blizzard wreaks havoc as winter weather worsens. *** *** THE PLAN, a five-book novel (quinogy) by R.W. Frazier, is a nineteenth century Western blended with a Sci-Fi vision. It is a story involving the formulation and implementation of plans; the evolution, the clashes, the contradictions, and the consequences of them. The storylines are compelling; the ideas and situations are stimulating; and the characters are unique, credible, varied, and memorable. *** Everyone has a plan. The plan may be immaculately structured, with incredible detail and a rigorous action schedule. It may be only a passing intention, barely started before being discarded at the first hint of inconvenience. The plan could be a mere hope or dream. It could be so vital that civilizations and cultures may not survive without it. *** The plan is never perfect. The plan is ever changing, evolving, growing or shrinking, perhaps succeeding brilliantly or failing miserably. Usually, the plan proceeds as a mixed bag of all possibilities. For everyone, the plan is life.... The ideas that each of us have at a particular time about how to get through life, how to make the most of life, how to enhance life, how to perpetuate life... or end it; that's the plan. *** *** Forlis Granger, a young man with a plan, arrives in western Wyoming in the summer of 1878. He is scientifically savvy and financially fit to spend a year or two prospecting for gold. Now alone in the world, Granger is intent on success for himself and for others with whom he can build relationships. *** The potential fallout from Granger's plan alarms a hidden group of civil servants in deep space. They must act to thwart it. Another secret group loves Granger's plan of action. An ambitious competitor has a plan that will upset Granger's in a different way. There are plenty of Granger supporters, but vicious foes, too. The known natural dangers from man and beast are formidable; the other threats are more sinister, but with altruistic motive. *** The variety of activities and situations will have you living the story from different character perspectives, admiring, despising, loving, empathizing with or seething at other characters. Concepts and descriptions presented will tickle your imagination. Clever problem solving and technical details bring the situations and activities to life. Embedded dashes of humor and surprises add to the entertainment.... THE PLAN. You will be glad you read it.
