Eighteen-year-old Marcus Barclay is a child of privilege whose future has already been meticulously mapped out for him by his father and grandfather. Though throughout his life, few of Marcus's desires have failed to be met, there is one that has always stubbornly eluded him; the affections of Ivy McQueen. Ivy is a popular high school cheerleader who has repeatedly rejected Marcus's attempts to get close to her. Yet on a night when Marcus is elevated to the status of town hero for his role in winning the state championship football game, his already overly inflated ego compels him to try and force the issue with Ivy. The unforeseen result of this choice subsequently leads to a brutal assault that completely destroys the lives of two young women and threatens to derail Marcus's carefully planned out future. But through the wealth, power and influence of the Barclay family, Marcus's crime is not only covered up but the reputation of Ivy McQueen is literally ripped to shreds. Marcus is then free to pursue an ambitious life plan that will eventually lead him all the way to the White House itself. Unbeknownst to Marcus and his family however, Ivy has a secret admirer; an unpopular nerd named Ryan Palmer with a highly risky plan of his own. It is his hope that through time, patience, planning and a little luck, he will be able to bring down Marcus Barclay and find justice for Ivy McQueen. Only time will tell if his love, patience and skill will be enough to make that happen.
