This children's novel is a sci-fi/ historical adventure aimed at 8 to 15 year olds. The story centers on teenager Ben Hillier and like his best friends, Eleanor Johnson and Michael Davies, they all experience déjà vu on a regular basis. Ben wakes up to discover his whole way of life has changed. The South West of England now speaks predominantly Spanish, the country itself is ruled by King Charles VII and England is now at war with Ireland and Scotland and his best friend Michael is missing. Ellie takes Ben to see his history teacher, Mr Morrow, who explains that Time has been changed by a group of dissidents from his home planet, Chronos, called The Tourists. With the aid of a purple carpet bag Ben, Ellie and Mr Morrow are transported to The Haven, a place that houses an infinite library. There they meet Fabian, an animated character who resides in a book. He explains that he is The Keeper of the Archive and Keys to The Haven and it is his job to advise and help train The Time Sensitives. He explains also that he and Mr Morrow are Chronites from the planet Chronos and with the help of the Time Sensitives, they must defeat The Tourists, who draw power when they alter time. The Tourists are headed by 'the Booking Agent' Silas Ghoul and his cohorts, 'The Receptionist' Honey Blackheart and 'The Paper Man' Ebenezer Perish. Each enemy possesses a gift, Silas uses a Soul Twister to rip his victim's souls from their body, Honey has a venomous snake like tongue and Ebenezer takes photos with his camera that traps the victim inside a photograph.Ben finds out that, like his friends Ellie, Oliver and Amelia, he is a Time Sensitive and they have the gift of time travel and can also see through the changes of history. He also learns that The Tourists have managed to help Guy Fawkes succeed in blowing up the Houses of Parliament causing the timeline to change. With the help of Fabian and Mr Morrow, the Time Sensitives must travel back in time to 1605 and stop The Tourists before events get time-locked forever!Can the children defeat Silas Ghoul and his evil cohorts? Who is the mysterious power behind The Tourists residing in The Dead Wastelands? Will Ben realize his true potential as a Time Sensitive?The novel focuses on friendships and teamwork whilst also informing the reader of historical facts coupled with 'what if' scenarios in a compelling adventure story.
