Fiona Molar, a Trainee Tooth Fairy arrives at the Academy and meets a powerful and intriguing student named Grant Wish. During their first meeting they are assigned class mentors who will help them prepare for the infamous 'Midnight Flight' an event that will determine whether they have the 'True Grit' to become Tooth Fairies. Fiona discovers that her mentor is her highly acclaimed Aunt Ursula and she worries if she will be able to live up to her impeccably high standards. An unlikely friendship is formed between Fiona and Grant which later leads to big trouble. After class, Grant displays a rare gift. He shows off by creating a magical illusion of racing horses to impress Fiona. His gift however proves to be very much out of control when he accidentally conjures his illusion and brings it to life. The horses charge, destroying one of the ancient classrooms in the Academy. Fiona and two other students, Faye Green and Mary are forced to protect themselves from danger and in turn reveal their rather surprising and powerful gifts. Faye exhibits powers that are compatible with the long fabled, 'Green Fairy's' magic. Creating tangles of twisting vines from thin air. The plump and kindly Mary can produce a delicious and formidably sticky sugar plum sweat that traps the unruly horses. All are utterly confused and in a firm state of denial about their powers except for Fiona who is suspecting all is not quite as it seems.
