Detective Green returns from vacation to find he's reunited with his ex partner, Keys, who is in a predicament. She's working with the FBI in a case of kidnapping where three women have been abducted over three days. At the same time, Keys is involved with an assault charge against her most recent partner who they discover has a history. As the days go by, the kidnapping, which started out simply, gets more and more complicated. The husbands of the three abducted women have no intention of paying out the ransom, even though they have the money to do so. As the case goes on, Green and Keys get more and more confused, with no crime scene, no leads and nothing to go on. This is the fifth novel In the Green Series.
