I was raised a Roman Catholic and my mother encouraged me to study the bible and learn about Christ and his teachings. I thus came to see Jesus as both God and man, but not just an ordinary man. He was a man who radiated love. He was a man with a mission and consumed with a passion to accomplish that mission. It was not until I became deeply involved in theatre that I saw another facet of Jesus' character. He was also a Madison Avenue and Broadway type genius. Despite the primitive methods of communication of his day and without financial backing, he nevertheless established a world-wide religion. It was this revelation that inspired me to write this collection of lyrical poems based upon his teachings, biblical passages and religious themes. To these poems I have added commentaries that focus on the demonstrative and dramatic theatrical devices he used to emphasize the essence of his teachings and to make them memorable.
