Tyler St. John is an interior designer in Manhattan. When her friend and business partner, Melissa Stillman, and her family go to Vermont on their usual two-week vacation and seemingly disappear, Tyler becomes concerned. After hearing that no one has seen the Stillmans since the day they arrived, Tyler decides to go to Vermont herself. Meanwhile Greg Stillmanas boss, who has his own concerns, hires Kas McGinnis, an old friend and a cop on a sabbatical, to look for the Stillmans. When he learns that Tyler is in Vermont he asks Kas to keep an eye on her. It is inevitable that the two will meet and develop feelings for each other.
