When a wealthy industrialist and owner of a world-wide aviation conglomerate invited him to join his research team he jumped at the chance to chase his dream. Professor Drath is awestruck by the advanced technology at the research center and quickly learns that his theories on light speed travel are all wrong. Their work is light-years ahead of his and he eventually is told why. They are back-engineering a UFO! Excitedly he becomes part of the team tasked with understand the technology. But things are not all good. The company's security is overwhelming. Everything is considered top secret. Even talking to family about work is off limits. As employees, they are all but held prisoners in the far away research complex. Treated like kings in a cage they work to discover the secrets of the UFO they call Mother. All the while, they are under the watchful eyes of the company. The more they learn about their employer the less they trust and feel comfortable working for them. During the experience Drath becomes involved with a co-worker and unexpectedly falls in love. When they are separated, threatened and black-mailed to follow strict company rule, they push against management and fight to stay together. The conflict builds until they have no choice but to run!
