Kathy was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on March 19, 1957. As a child, she was fond of animals and always had dogs and cats. She has two sons that live in Connecticut near her. She wrote this rhyming story for children and gave it to me a long time ago. She has been sickly most of her life, having juvenile diabetes at age seventeen. She is on dialysis three times a week. She has caregivers and nurses. She is blind but refuses to go into assisted living because she could not have her cat, Luke. Her dream has always been to have children read her story and to stop all the bullying! The photo of those in wheelchairs where it says “And some that can’t stand” are her cousins. We have an agreement that a portion of anything earned will be given to the animal shelter. —Phyllis Giguere, her mom
