I wrote my first poem in 1969. It was really quite awful so you won't find it here. This collection is in two parts. First, the part I call 1969, is a collection of poems originally written between 1969 and 1973. I have done a little doctoring, because many were simply morose crap and some have stolen their way into this book. I couldn't help it. The next part, 2053, was composed sparsely from about 1989 onward. Sparsely, I say, because I wrote fewer over a longer period and took time to think about what I was writing. The poems of 1969 were written with the motivation of quantity versus quality. I was inebriated by my own voluminous verbosity, even though the words stunk. There are many hundreds of poems written during that era, that do not appear in this collection, though I have not had the courage to toss them in the trash bin where they belong. The 2053 part is named such because that is the year I will turn 100.Just so you know, none of the sketches in this book are mine, they are all public domain pieces created by persons much more artistically talented than me. Photographs may or may not be mine.I did include a photo of my friend Brian and me, from back in those 'olden days'. The school publications were granted the use of a large office above the school auditorium/theatre. A bullpen for joint use. The Argosy, the school Newspaper, the Argo, the school Newsletter, and the Vista, the school Literary Magazine. Brian was my Assistant Editor. The photo shows him seated at my desk, doing the work, while I lean back with a cigarette and gesticulate at Lloyd (Argo), about mundane trivia that neither of us is really interested in. Yes we were allowed to smoke in school, in those days, in certain places. The prestigious school Yearbook team had their own private office.
