The way that people immediately wrote her off had stopped bothering her a long while back but she had expected more from him, given what he was working for. She had started her business almost four years ago at the ripe age of twenty, having known what she wanted to do even before that. But it had taken her time to propel her start-up as people continuously undermined her. She worked hard every day, despite her special ability, to make her name in this world. Her company, 'Wishes Do Come True' or as she liked to call it WDCT, organized events from birthdays to weddings and corporate events. There was a time when she did all of it alone, but now she had over two hundred trusted workers.She was just taking in her gloomy surroundings when the door opened behind her. She didn't turn around and kept looking at the blank grey wall.A throat cleared close behind her back."Miss Smith, would you like to sit down please?"She turned around to face him and was taken aback by their proximity. Not wanting to stare at him again, she side-stepped him and quietly went to sit in front of his desk as he made his way around it."I apologize for what I said outside." He looked like he wanted to say something else.The moment he hesitated, it dawned on her that she was alone in a room with a killer. He had killed someone and done time for it. Had he really changed? She cut that train of thought, reminding herself that Sam trusted him so she would too until she found a reason not to."I apologize for being late." She gave him a small smile which he returned."Since we weren't properly introduced, I'm Elliot Hale."He extended his hand over the table and she took it. His hand engulfed hers and a jolt of warmth shot up from their joined hands."Lydia Smith." She shook his hand once and quickly pulled her hand back from his grasp.Her ears burned and she cursed herself for putting her hair up. Elliot cleared his throat while rubbing the back of his neck and continued to speak.
