When Lark Myers, twenty, tells her husband of six weeks, Don, that she is pregnant, he beats her so badly that she has a miscarriage. Lark seeks refuge in the home of her older brother, Josh, and his girl friend, Robin. Lark returns to college part-time and accepts a part-time job in her brother's construction company.
