This collection of poems includes a celebration of the great sandstone Cistercian abbey of Furness in South Cumbria and continues with poems that bring to life the stony wild places that we all love. It draws mainly on the poet's experience of the Lake District but includes verses set in Snowdonia and Spain. He has worked as a language teacher in Cumbria and the Highlands and as a mountain guide in Britain, Spain, France and Morocco. Martin's poems have been performed at venues including Keswick's Theatre by the Lake and included in anthologies of current poetry.
