A large estate agency and their associated company of lawyers are being targeted by unknown assassins. One by one the main family who own and run the companies are being murdered. The Serious Crime Squad are asked to investigate. D.I.'s Karetzi and Jones who together with two civilians, Amber Gilberts and Charlie White, an ex-con, make up the S. C. S. They are at a complete loss of who and why. From their office in a Cardiff terraced house the young maverick Karetzi works closely with his partner, the much older and sober Jones. Charlie (Chalky) helps where unlawful access is required and the big black Amber, their forensic and technical person who lives on the upper floor of the offices, helps keep the wheels turning. It's two steps forward, one back and slowly they gain a foothold but time and family members are running out.
