In 2016, the run-up to the presidential election has billionaire builder/reality television producer David J. Tower facing off against Harriet Roberg Clawson, a career politician, in a no-holds barred fight. Allegations of criminality and incompetence are flung about by each candidate. Carpenter enlists the aid of retired cardiologist, James Holt, and together they attempt to get Everett's message on Fox News and CNN, just as an exciting new game is being introduced to television: real news vs. fake news. Smack in the middle of the election cycle, Dr. Carpenter uncovers proof that one of the candidates, either Tower or Harriet, has a brain disorder that is far more sinister than Alzheimer's, a condition so treacherous that the FBI and CIA have a screening mechanism in place to detect it. Carpenter designs an algorithm to diagnose it.Calamity strikes Dr. Carpenter, leaving Holt on his own to convince the American voting public of the truth before it's too late. But will America believe him? Or will his message be viewed as just another instance of Fake News?
