Life has become more perilous in the town where Leslie and Sam live. For one thing, people are being murdered. Horribly so, and the police are baffled. To add to the confusion, the local Mayoral elections are due, but all is not well even there. There are accusations of infidelity and sabotage, but worse is to follow. One of the candidates goes berserk and tries to kill Leslie, and it's only her vampire strength that saves her from being added to the growing list of the town's murdered. Why would anyone want to do such a weird thing? The attacker, despite being caught in the very act, denies everything, and appears to be sincere. Determined to find out some answers, Leslie and Sam, along with the ubiquitous Frank the dog, set out on a journey to discover the author of all the local mayhem. The surprising answer lies with an old enemy, and Leslie has to take an unprecedented step, and face a dreadful choice, in order to keep herself and her friends alive.
