Description

His love is so powerful that there is no other power that is able to conquer it. It conquers everything. It overpowers everything. Everything God did, in terms of creation of the universe and its contents, was driven by this powerful thing called love.Imagine for a moment what we do for our loved ones; how we go beyond our capacities or abilities for the ones we love. Imagine how we want to share the little we have with the ones we love. Imagine how we climb the highest mountain and go down the deepest valley for the ones we love. Think of all the sacrifices we make for the ones we love; we even don't mind losing certain things for the sake of those we love. With God, that happens at a much higher level. I am touched by everything about His love. All of a sudden I realize that I don't know His love that much. I realize how much I need the school of His love. There is much more to learn about His love. His love is the greatest thing that you and I can ever know because God is love. In Christ Jesus's finished work we see that His love lays down its life for its brethren--although not in the religious sense. It's not like what terrorists or suicidal bombers do. It's not like how some people sacrifice themselves so that they can be accepted somewhere in another hereafter imaginary world. It's not a product of indoctrination or hypnotism. It's a result of the pure wisdom of God and His understanding. It's not like a blind leap of faith, but, it's an emanation from deep revelation and a profound comprehension of divine purpose. That's why Jesus didn't give up on going to the cross--although He could have. He could have called legions of angels to defend Him and rescue Him from undertaking the brutal criminal's death sentence. The pain involved wasn't superficial; no one could have volunteered to go through it.It wasn't like just being injected with a killer poison and suddenly waking up in another world when it's all over. It was a slow and painful experience. The pain was beyond what words can express. His suffering was just too much. That love is of God because it comes from God. Its source is God. Nobody can work out the love of God on their own. God has to give us this love in order for us to give it to Him and others.I am talking about God's love which is unconditional. It's not based on merit. It doesn't have reasons for us to deserve it. God loves us in whatever state we are in. He doesn't try to find reasons for loving us. He is love! His love for us is strong all the time, in all conditions. It's strong when we are at our worst or best. The darkness that sometimes creeps in our lives has no effect on God's love. His love has power over darkness. If we avail our hearts to be exposed to the love of God, the darkness will flee. The light and its fruits will take possession of every faculty of our beings. God isn't going to force His love on us. He is knocking and waiting for us to open the doors of our hearts to receive and experience the power of His unconditional love.Love is what matters the most. All the other things we need are secondary. They come as benefits of the love of God. I believe that's why the fulfilment of the Law is all about love. Where there is the love of God the right things begin to happen. Things begin to be aligned correctly, in accordance with the perfect will of God.Love covers wrongdoing and overpowers it. Our hearts are changed by the love of God. When this happens all faculties of our beings also change. Even ethics proceed from a heart filled with the love of God. Thus, institutions run by sons and daughters of the love of God will inevitably flourish. Even if they pass through storms they remain intact. They come out stronger than before. They are motivated by the love of God to do everything as unto the Lord. Their hearts are lavished by the love of God.
