In 1997 I sailed alone through the Caribean when the vulcano of Montserrat was vomiting flowing lava down the hillsides into the sea. It was night and I was sailing just off the shore as the heat hit the deck from the flow of the lava .The sun was setting in the West and the moon rising in the East and directly to my North was this incredible theater of golden and silver and red streaminglava through what had been tropical forest now turned into grey and blackash and splashing in to the sea creating clouds of steam coming my way.Perhaps our ventures into the unknown is what our life's crusade is about -venturing , testing, finding, exploring.....
