The author writes, "This collection of some hundred of my poems, rhymes and verses written during the last ten years is a sort of farewell to arms, well maybe more to finger tips on a keyboard, that has given me so much enjoyment while passing the many hours of immobility and pain imposed by seventy years of physical and mental illness , to wit agoraphobia all my life, a broken spine in a helicopter crash aged 30, active cancer for the past 18 years and five cerebral strokes since 2007. A few of these poems have appeared amongst my other writings and anthologies but this is the definitive collection of my own favourites. Some are just good fun, many autobiographical or romantic, but probably the majority are inwardly reflective. I hope both the inner me and the outer me show forth in equal measure. If these lines have any value at all it is primarily to show to those of you who are held in harness by ill health, your own or caring for others, that there is always a pleasant way to pass your days. I claim no literary genius, simply a wish to share my thoughts and memories".
