Thirty-five-year-old Army Ranger Captain Scott Whitaker was not comfortable with the situation in front of him. First, combining special forces from the Seals and Rangers always had its unique set of problems. That being said, the biggest problem was the new hi-tech toy he had mounted in his helmet. All he had to do is press down on the voice command on the control panel and the drone would wait for the word "command" and the instructions that followed. He still had the option of using the manual and visual controls on his handheld drone control panel, but the new system was faster and more accurate. Up to now, everything with the system had been field-tested, but no real operation in the field. The higher-ups in the special forces research facility wanted to take the device to the next level, and Captain Whitaker was the first choice.At six feet one, brown hair, and hazel eyes, he still had the physic of a twenty-five-year member of his team. That was only because he spent an extra two hours each day in the exercise room. As one of the oldest members of the crew, he did not want the other members to look at him as the old man. Now everything in this operation was on his tall shoulders. His team was on the top edge of a ridge overlooking an Afghanistan village that was supposed to be the location of three kidnapped American Construction workers. A local warlord who what getting financial assistance from the Americans was playing both sides against each other. He had captured the three Americans as they were surveying a new road through the area. The warlord had then dressed himself and his men up as Taliban soldiers and made a kidnap tape asking for money in return for the release of the three Americans.
