Did you read my 1st book, "Blessings by the Dozen"? - A true story of the hardships, struggles and successes of a large Asian Chinese family. The Author matter-of-factly but with great reverence tells of the family's life during the greater part of the 20th Century. He takes the reader along a journey through the life of his "cheaper by the dozen" family and the difficulties of balancing a life that is suffused by more than one culture. The life of a "P.K." (Preacher's kid - e.g. the author) was never an easy one. But add to these complications: 12 children and grinding poverty in war-torn Singapore, Christianity in a non-Christian environment, they had seen all of this and more and not only survived but triumphed! Truly, "A Question of Survival" (the title of one of the chapters) the writer highlights the family's difficult and challenging childhood as they grew up during the Great Depression and World War II years. This book portrays the life of an Asian Chinese Singaporean and his family whose lives had been greatly blessed and impacted by the early Christian missionaries to China and Singapore. It was their father's complete devotion to ministering God's word, the Church, his family and his association with the early missionaries in China and Singapore that changed the course of their lives and brought many blessings to the family. Several members of the family were educated and settled down in America. From surviving the Great Depression and World War II to, finally, an enlightening visit to China, the writer weaves memories and insights of his motherland China. He also includes several miraculous and "life-threatening" events that are true and inspiring. "An eminently readablebook...It will entertain and educate" wrote another reader. "More....Blessings by the Dozen" resembles the Gilbreth's book, "Cheaper by the Dozen" but in a uniquely differently and intriguing Asian culture and life setting.
