KOB 01/14/2004 Write on; Read on; Poets of the World Unite! Reviews - Praise for Kent's Writing: "Once again, one of your pieces has blown my mind. You have done an incredible job of the descriptors. If I quoted all the lines that made me smile, I'd quote the whole piece, or maybe simply because I smiled knowing YOU" "Wow. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down until finished. Very Interesting! Kudos to my old friend, Kent Oliver Burt." "The story drew me in immediately. Each character's depiction was so spot on that I found myself in each moment of time feeling their feelings. I was right there in New Orleans watching it all unfold as a spectator and at times being in their shoes. I was enthralled with different emotions as each chapter unfolded. It left me wanting more, to know more about each character, past and present. I'm looking forward to many more great stories from the author." "What a great read. I finished the whole thing in one sitting (the best compliment I could ever give a book). Kent Oliver Burt has a unique ability to put the reader 'there'. Excellent job, I'm thoroughly impressed." "This is a piece that is comparable to the author's poem Duty. The dark emotional turmoil is very evident, the descriptions are absolutely incredible. I wanted to bold the whole damn thing ya know, but I know that is unrealistic. I loved the whole story. I bow my head to this incredible glimpse at the unexplored talent you have hidden inside you. Bravo!!!!!" From the Author: I wrote these poems over the course of many years, some date back to my childhood. Some were painful to write and read. Some were a great joy. It was hard to choose which poems should be included in this edition. Like many poets, I have written hundreds, if not thousands of poems over the may years of my life. Many are scrawled on a piece of paper, or the back of a book, or in notepads or notebooks that I always keep close by. Nowadays, I often write them in my memo section in my phone or tablet and copy them to my files later (if I remember). I would like to thank my daughter, Caitlin, for picking through my notebooks and helping me select the poems for this book. I would also like to thank my wife, Cathy, for reading them, and listening to me read them aloud. In addition to poems, this book contains full colour illustrations, images and photographs that I specially selected from my collection for your enjoyment. I hope they enhance the reading of the poems. From the Inside Flap: This book has no inside flap so I will share a poem: I Miss You The days have sprouted wings and flown off into yesteryear yet your memory lingers and I still see your face Do your lips ever speak my name? Do you kisses taste the same? Do your eyes still sparkle? Does your laughter still ring out? I miss the beauty of your mind I miss the caress of your voice I miss you kent oliver burt oct 16, 2002
