Description

In his first days as butler and representative to the world of a family of Ghouls, Ghouligans, and reformed vampires, Jeeves Baldwin helps his new employers deal with one nasty neighbor's bright light at night assault and another's roaming guard dogs. Jeeves asks jeweler Kirby Kirbey to appraise some items but backs away when the man is too interested in what other jewels there are. Kirbey sends a man to mug Jeeves and steal those. That man gets slimed for his trouble but is able to follow Jeeves back to the estate and learn the address. Several days later Kirbey breaks into the mansion's basement and makes off with two chests full of gems and jewelry. Kirbey must turn part of the haul over to mid-level mobster Giorgio Xylode, an avid collector of expensive artwork and jewelry as well as violent and crazy. When Xylode learns that Kirbey kept one treasure chest for himself he sends men to claim it and to punish the jeweler for holding back on him. At the same time top mob boss Carlos Sabatini, more ruthless and dangerous than anyone else, learns what Xylode received and sends his men to claim it all for himself. Working with the Ghouls' needy neighbor Villana DeCrewel and greedy art collector Seymour Schovitzky Schovar, each of whom intends to cheat all the others, Jeeves and his girlfriend Carrie set off to reclaim the treasure while it is all in Sabatini's penthouse. With extensive help from the ghoulish family who stay out of sight so only Jeeves and Carrie know they are there, the four humans climb in and out windows, slide down and get stuck in chutes, create diversions, prowl through forbidden places, and risk vicious revenge if caught while getting into, around, and back out of Sabatini's place. But they do pick up what DeCrewel and Schovar firmly believe is the treasure. Because of the Ghoul family's shenanigans, things aren't what they seemed and there are mixed reactions by the principal actors to how things turn out. In the end the family members properly punish every human who stole from them, making it obvious why getting on the bad side of Ghouls and reformed vampires is dangerous to your nerves and sanity. Thrills, chills, chases, and laughs among the living and the undead-but-still-active.
