Description

An invasion from Durinites is expected. Spies are already in the valley, evidenced by a summer of murder and cannibalism. Their ships have been spotted anchored back behind the islands. Secretly, to not attract the attention, inhabitants of the port city are leaving their homes and seeking shelter in caverns in the mountain above the city. The only hope to stop this large of an invasion, rests with a small group of teenagers and old men. Fortunately, they have Commander Neraye. He is only seventeen and half the size of other men. Even King Norman would tell you, there is no better commander than little Neraye when it comes to planning a tactical move to stop invasion into the kingdom. His first step in planning, is to make sure he has dependable men. Second, he has to figure out the weakness of the enemy. Third, is to pray, because if Neraye's plan does not work, a lot of men, women and children are going to be cut into pieces and packed into salt brine for the long voyage home. It's even worse for the small village at the Coastal castle. Previous invasions from out to sea have depleted their fighting number. With only four, two in the castle and two at the edge of the village, a Durinite invasion would overtake the village in minutes. Part 2 of this book is about Prince Mego's effort to right the wrong his father caused when he was king. He has been searching for children sold into slavery to return them to their parents. When Izehoa, a prophet of God, is taken in a vision to a gemstone mine deep within a mountain, it is Prince Mego he finds seated at his campfire when he returns. Rightfully it should be this Carekeeper of Widows and Orphans, for Izehoa has been shown children trapped, starving, cold and hungry. He has heard their names and knows, many are boys on Mego's list of missing children.
