Description

This book is a revision of several previous publications, concentrating on the healthy diet aspect and packed with more astonishing facts. Because obesity in both children and adults remains the number one health risk today, this book offers advice to people who would like to start eating healthy and become as close as possible to their recommended and/or desired weight. I detail a very strict diet plan---the perfect diet---that I created that resulted in my losing 272 pounds over a ten months period, and whereby my continued adherence has allowed me to be able to maintain this weight. I relate the problems that I developed in following such a rigorous diet program and offer prophylactic advice to people electing to lose weight extremely fast so that they won't encounter the same problems. I present this book in an easy-to-read version for the simple-minded individual. My diet program offers a piecemeal approach, meaning that cutting down or eliminating a particular food or substance can still result in tremendous weight loss and improved health. In simple words, a person may not be able to totally adhere to my strict guidelines, but any small decrease or avoidance of an unhealthy food over a period of months or years, along with increasing activity, such as exercising more, can make a substantial difference in terms of weight loss. Just think about it! If fattening and high-calorie foods are definitely implicated in causing the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease that will eventually result in an individual's demise, then we can assume that eliminating or avoiding some of the responsible substances can retard this process. I discuss factors that are a big deterrent in the battle to eat healthy, and explain why certain food substances and products---especially dangerous drugs---must be avoided. My past professional experience of personally having performed over 1,500 autopsies, along with my own deleterious consequences of having developed atherosclerotic disease from being over 400 pounds for over thirty years, certainly confirmed these facts. I am convinced that by making the overweight and diabetic individuals aware of certain physiological processes that are continuously occurring in our bodies, they would be in a better position to understand and interpret my suggestions, thereby increasing their success in losing weight. I detail the many consequences of both type 2 diabetes and obesity in hopes of convincing everyone of the serious dangers of overeating. In brief, I have something to offer all of my readers from the most radical---my diet plan---to the most realistic and conservative. In a nutshell, I lived through what I now advocate against, since I discovered too late what obesity could do to the human body. Regarding my educational background and experience, I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana, and a medical degree from L.S.U. Medical School in New Orleans, accomplishing the latter in three short years; completed a rotating "O" internship at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge; worked in numerous emergency rooms all over the State of Louisiana; held many professional jobs, including the public health clinic, local mental health center, and substance-abuse clinic; was awarded several state contracts; served as medical director of both the parish and Hammond City jails; practiced family medicine for 30 years; and held the position of coroner for 14 years at a mid-sized rural Louisiana parish. By reading my book, you will become well informed on what it takes to lose weight and why you may be encountering difficulty. I also provide some very inexpensive and easy-to-prepare low-calorie recipes that I concocted that are good appetizers and filler-uppers. Anyone can lose weight, and my diet plan offers the best opportunity. See http://www.drvincentncefalusr.com
